*~ Kayaking Day 1 BB ~*
Saturday, January 27, 2007 @8:00 PM

Heya.. back from kayaking today.. super duper uber fun! I teamed up with Jermyn as usual. I mean what would I do without him he's been my buddy since TA I. haha.. hmm first learnt the basics

---fast forward lalalalalalaalalla----

so went into the water. from my experience with wei chuen in OEP things were quite okay la. except I could fit my long legs in now.. haha.. erm first we had the swimming 50m thingy.. i struggled.. coz stupid sandals so heavy and my clothes were so heavy lor.. sigh.. at least made it thru with help. lols. then first round we could do anything we wanted so me and Jermyn were doing speedboat thingy and like zooming all over the place. haha. then we learnt how to capsize. well a bit freaky at first. especially with the instructor counting down. its sth like someone points a gun at you and ocunts down till the time he will shoot. lol. but still managed to not get stuck. However the currents were really rough. like 10 knots. Hmm what else oh also learnt how to do the 360 degree turn (quite successful) and the J-sth.. crab forgot what it is. But it was really fun. Skimming through the water and enjoying the cool weather today was great. Hmm looking forward to next week where I will complete the course and get my certificate. hah. yay!

*~ My OEP Poem ~*
Thursday, January 25, 2007 @5:17 PM

Ok this is a official poem for school homework..

Overseas Education Program Poem

Curiosity and an open mind we were told to bring,
A positive outlook was a necessary thing.
Different personality’s together, learning new things,
How well we worked together, it was surprising.

Through many trials and troubles our friendship was tested,
Despite our differences we pulled through undivided.
New friendships forged during this time,
Most, I’m sure will stand against the test of time.

Flipping through the pages of Malacca’s history,
Entwined with countless stories, some of fact and some of mystery.
Malacca, the old in harmony with the new,
Places remaining like this are indeed few.

After this trip our lives were deeply enriched,
The sights and sounds forever in our hearts a niche.
Becoming a better person,
Forever wanting to learn.

Monday, January 22, 2007 @4:57 PM

On the last day we woke up really early. We surrendered our keycards reluctantly to our teachers. We headed to the Muar Agro- Tourism park after breakfast, where we expected to get muddy and smelly. the road there was really bumpy, and I didnt feel safe at all. Especially since I was in the back row. The first activity was river crossing. I was unlucky as my landing area was really muddy. And my shoes were stuck and it was like a monster grabbing me by the ankles. Due to time constraints, I didnt do the rope crossing. But my friends who did some nice stunts. Christer and Sherwin had a duel on the rope. In the end both fell into the water. Wei Chuen sabo-ed Matthew and Matt fell into the water, much to our thunderous applause to all those who witnessed it. My favourite activity was kayaking. It was really fun and it was my first time doing so. I was paired with Wei Chuen, gladly, for Matt was the other choice. We worked really well together, and we now are better friends. Some people on rafts bombarded us with water. So I threw coconuts back and one of them broke the bambboo on the ragt and it broke. And the culprit (my fren Jermyn) fell into the water. Haha. Unfortuantely, we unable to go for Raft Building. After going through an obstacle course, we cleaned up the mud off ourselves and tried our best to clean ourselves. We collected our food after that and we changed in the carpark. Lols. using the cars to put our dirty clothing. Haha. Mud wash. We went to the Star Restaurant for lunch. *** ** was being super cheapo, collecting all the coke tabs in the hope of winning a car. >.<>

*~ OEP Day 4 ~*
@4:24 PM

After breakfast ,we attended a Peranakan food talk and demonstration where we learnt how to cook Peranakan food and we got to sample some of Mr Kenny Chan's cooking. We went to Mahkota Parade Shopping Centre to buy ingredients later in the day. We were trying to avoid and shake off Matthew as much as possible la. We had lunch at Burger King, where service was quite bad. waited quite long. not as fast and effecient as Singapore. The good thing was there was unlimited refills! W00T! So we were all quite bloated after drinking alot alot alot of drinks. My group bought the stuff and it totalled out to around RM2.80 each.. Which was worth it.. they would find out later.. We spent alot of time around the shop which sold imitation shirts. Pink was quite popular as it was not a common colour. But in the end like 6 or 7 people bought the same supposedlyt unique shirt..so no longer a novelty..Afterwards we went to another supermarket to get additional stuff if necessary.We could take free one-cent coins. Imagine how fast it would be snatched up in Singapore. The cooking competition was good. Well at least the only thing was that Robert ruined my shirt.And we didnt use the carrots we bought .But it was still a success. Me and my culinary background.. muhahahahha.. After a tiring hour or 2, i was finally sastified and we made ourselves comfortable in the ballroom. It was chicken with potato and mushrooms in spicy bean paste on vermicelli. During the presentation, we realised that we had not thought of a group name or a dish name. As david was our presenter and a very devoted christian to the extent of preaching during meals -.-, we thought he would name it Holy Noodles. Well, Sherwin came up with it, saying that we had not cooked the dish, but instead the noodles fell from heaven while David was praying. LOL. We were rather disappointed that we didnt win, but it was the teamwork and bonding that was the most important la. Chien Tat was in the vegetarian table, and his other tablemates were Indian. Hence their name was the Sanskrit speaking Vegetarians. We were all laughing at Chien Tat, who was miserably eating potatoes. Surprisingly, they won third place. Sigh. Contrary to what we were told that we were eating only our dish for dinner, we were still treated to the hotel's fine food. I went to Ainsley's room again after my shower. Well, I;m not exactly the partying sor, so I spent my free time there. It was our last night and we got an extended lights out time for packing.

Okay we went for the Heritage Trail Treasure Hunt. It was really fun and interesting. We got to ride trishaws into the city and to landmarks in Malacca, basically the places we had already been yesterday. It was like the Amazing Race, but only me, David, Yang Jin, Bang Kiat were active. The rest were stoning. or the chinese saying. Lan Yu Zong Shu. Or sth liddat. Lunch was a very tasty affair. Our table has become accustomed to 'taupok-ing' the good food the moment they land on the table.I mean if you dont fight for it, you wont get anything. The coconut pudding was very delicious and unique. Nothing I've eaten before. After that we went for Cip at a Salvation's Army home. The boys were orphans and all very young. They were rather violent using LEGO-style tops to and smashing them and breaking them. We also helped them with their homework. which was cool. so easi. Dinner was bad, although the food was good, our table was expereiencing civil strife. Coz Bob pour all of Josh rice back to the big bowl and Jianhui and Robert were having war. then we were all stoning la. me, gan, christer, ainsley, yangjin, david. Robert was crying really bad. but then he was in hsi crouched position for so long Christer joked that he had forgotten to cry and was in fact sleeping. Mr Bean anyone? The discussion for the food recipe later was rather bad, with people making nonsensical suggestions and others like David wanted to do some Asam fish thingy. If we did that, the time taken to clean up thefish blablabla would not have made it. Sigh. Stressful coz we couldnt agree. Eventaully we came up with somethig so we could go to our rooms. I visited Ainsley, and we spent alot of time chatting la. which was better than being in the room with Siah and Co. (My room)

This morning I woke up early, but Shawn couldnt do the same. LOL. Then went for breakfast. Oh yeah Bang Kiat just reminded me that Mark the Monkey in the Aboriginal village attacked Chien Tat. He provoked th e monkey and threw the passionfruit at it. Well actually at the tree then the monkey went to eat it. Bad day for Tat yesterday, if you remember. After a briefing we went to see the Stadhuys (Dutch Sqaure), St Paul's Church, the Governor's Museum. and he A'Fomosa, which incidentally was partly saved by Stamford Raffles. We also heard about the miraculous story of St Francis Xavier, who was a priest spreading Catholicsm, to cut a long story short, his body is still intact today, and when they cut of his right hand to send to Rome, it was still bleeding a few 100 years after his death. incidentlly, his statue at St Paul's church is missin a hand. this is due to a storm which hit a tree and the tree broke off the hand, after it was cut off. We also visited the Baba Nonya nuseum, where I got an insight to the Peranakan culture and their lifestyle. Their art was intricate and very beautiful. Lunch was rather bad. tasted weird. for once no one touched the food. David was doing his duty of saying grace as the so called 'reverend'. Went back to my room afterwards and go taupoked twice. Sigh. I hate **** I shall not say it for my own safety. Sigh mafia -.-... We also did our Batik Art, which was really fun, at first tried to do everything nicely, but then gave up due to the absorbing of the ink. then followed Beng Teong's method of splatter and shaking it. now its a nice gradient of colour. many followed the way of the BT. Lol. well done. i like mine anyway. At night went to Jonker Street to do shopping for our charity Bazaar. we bought handphone pouches and zip pouches. buying was very smooth, with bang kiat doing alot of barganing. but matthew wang was a pain. dunno which idiot put him in our group. He was drifiting off all the time. and kept going on about stuff we werent talkking about. all in all , SUPER IRRITATING AND LIVING IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE. Good riddance when we finally were done coz no one in my group couldt stand him. sigh.. ok end my posting here.
--- END OF DAY 2 ---

*~ OEP 2007 Day 1~*
@11:37 AM

Heys. Im finally back from Malacca. Ive been recording down my so called 'adventures' and okay im gonna blog. Hmm ok here goes..

Left school at 730 am on Saturday... Then took a fairly long ride to the customs place near the border. So um that was done quite quickly. Then back on another long bus ride where we aere eating alot. like some party. Many who were sleeping ended up in people's cameras. haha. im guilty of helping to take some. e.g. chien tat. which is a very valuable pic now. gee. Most were either playing games on handphone, or chatting, or sleeping or listening to MP3.We stopped by 2 places, one of which had a VCD/DVD shop. Movies like Eragon were already there and some which have not even started showing in Singapore. As expected, toilet standards are fairly low.. sigh. But the good food makes up for it. Im keeping the money for my group used for the charity bazaar which is on Saturday. We spent about 27RM buying food and the others will be used later. Stuff here is cheaper than Singapore (duh) but then dont want to be lugging the whole supermarket home. We then went to D'Paradise which was a fruit and plant plantation which doubled up as a aboriginal village. The roads in Malaysia are very bumpy, and we all agree that this is the cause of night accidents. Lol i mean seriously the bus driver couldnt brake if he wanted to. There, they let us sample Jackfruit, papaya, Rambutan, passionfruit and Starfruit. There were lots of flies in the toilet and mosquitoes too. They were all fat and slow. Chien Tat took the liberty of killing flies on sight, which are so dumb you can even step on them. unlike their Singaporean counterparts which are fast and alert. We walked through many plants of many varieties. We also saw the cactus farm, with cactuses ranging from round to the typical in the desert, and those that didnt look like cactuses at all. We also got up close and personal with the ostriches, the deers, and the cute rabbits. There was no barrier between us, so you could actually touch them. Nick Siah spit chewing gum in the enclosure, and the ostrich swallowed it. so we were joking that if the ostrich died, we knew who to go after. LOL. and chien tat was feeding it leaves plucked from the tree. haha. i was helping samuel ong take a picture of a deer when one actually came to me and almost licked my shirt. haha it was so cuteeeeeeeeeee. There was also a vineyard, though there were only small little grapes there. At the arena, there was a performance by the tribe, showcasing their dances and customs. But then something really freaked me out. a butterfly flew onto te fan and got chopped up. So gross. and scary. the wing shards are freakily all over the place. After a further tour, we were taking a buggy ride back after previous rides. Beng Teong happened to be in my buggy. and the joke was we could not go uphill. Lol so later after finding a way out, the downhill went very smoothly and fast, probably due to the GPE.Back at the hotel I saw my room la. sharing with Shawn. but its on a double bed. but its okay la. Its quite a nice and cosy place minus the bad concierge service who cant really understand English. Nvm. I can hear Chien Tat from my room. hes with Matthew Wang. Happy new year to CT la. Matt Wang is a bit weird, with is catch phrase that we love to repeat 'Do you like Chien Tat....?" LMAO. Jianhui and christer are one of the few who got single beds, but then their air-con is spoilt, fridge is spoilt, tv is spoilt, some lights are spoilt. Lol so i rather have my room. People kept making prank calls. Bob was jumping on Siah's bed.. but I got tired of their company, which I dont really enjoy. In re end I went over to Colin's room to watch soccer because only rooms on the third flow have cable TV. so unfair.. Liverpool owned Watford. Wei En was messing up Colins room as he does with anyone's. his sugar and creamer was everywhere. Sigh sometimes hes just an idiot. Then saw Chien tat being scolded for breaking a phone. what a loser..
